What Is Leicestival?
Leicestival is an exciting project for 13-24 year olds who want to get involved in the biggest festivals and events in Leicester.
Last year, 75 young people from across the city took part in sessions and also volunteered at 11 festivals that happen in Leicester, which gave young people incredible experiences and memories they will not forget, allowing them to boost their confidence and employability skills.
The festivals that the young people took part in last year were:
- Bonfire Night
- Serving our services
- Chinese New Year
- Leicester Comedy Festival
- St Patrick's Day
- St George's Day
- Caribbean Carnival
More importantly, YOU get to be a part of this journey this year creating new experiences and making a positive impact on Leicester's festivals and events.
Whilst young people volunteered at these festivals, they took on specific roles such as interviewing with the public, photography and filming, running arts and craft stalls, face painting, and being part of vibrant parades, serving food and stewarding.
"I volunteered in places I never thought I would, and have gained so much more confidence" - Young person, aged 14
Commit and work hard throughout Leicestival, and this will not go unnoticed. Last year, those who committed were rewarded with a trip to London to the London Dungeons, London Eye, and explore Camden Market.
At the end of the year, we celebrate with an awards evening to celebrate everyone's amazing contributions throughout the year.
